triple j !

The Australian Way of Life

What is it? Is there something that unifies Australians living 6,000 km apart? What do young people at the top end of the NT have in common with young people at the top end of Tassie? Well, triple j is taking off around the country to shine the spotlight on 4 different regional towns... and we’re bringing some of Australia’s biggest and best bands with us!

The concerts will be broadcast live on triple j, with jtv delivering video online from each venue as it happens and the complete gigs on ABC TV. You'll also hear and see Hack stories about each town on your radio and telly as well as stacks of interactive online content.

The Music

We’ll bring big names to small towns. We’re talking really big names: MISSY HIGGINS, POWDERFINGER, GRINSPOON and THE CAT EMPIRE and many more.

Each month for four months, triple j will head to a different corner of Australia with one of these artists plus three other bands in tow. We’ll hang out with the locals and look at issues affecting the region. The bands will spend some time doing the same thing. And then triple j will put on a massive concert in the town – for FREE.

The Towns

4 months. 4 towns.

We’ll invite the rest of the world into these towns to tell their stories. Meet the residents, find out what issues are important to them and what events shape their lives. See Australia from a perspective that is vastly different to yours... or maybe surprisingly similar!

Unearthing local talent

triple j is giving unsigned acts the chance to be part of the whole thing. One artist from each region will be chosen from the website and get the chance to share the stage with some of Australia's favourite bands and play in front of thousands of people. It'll be pretty special and it could be you – head to for all the details.
